Schenectady mayor Brian Stratton announced Monday the addition of 10 new police
officers to the city police department.
The recruits will increase the department's staff level to 164.
Eight of the officers will enter a training academy for six months of basic
training, followed by 12 weeks of department-supervised field training.
The other two have already fulfilled their basic training requirement; they'll
immediately begin their modified field training, Stratton said.
The new recruits are: Sean Donovan, 31, of Rotterdam; Samuel Gonzalez, 25, of
Yonkers; Christopher Haigh, 23, of Rotterdam; Jonathan Haigh, 21, of Rotterdam;
Gordon Iwan, 30, of Scotia; Jeffery McCutcheon, 29, of Schenectady; Jonathan
Moore, 26, of Saratoga Springs; Adam Nowicki, 24, of Cohoes; Michael Pommer, 23,
of Schenectady; and Jennifer Shewczyk, 22, of Watervliet.
Meanwhile, over in Troy, police chief Nicholas Kaiser announced the addition of
five new officers to its department: Mattrw Beaudoin; Charles Donald Castle III;
Brandon Cipperly; Dominick John Comitale; and Danielle Kara Coonradt.
